iriver W10 revealed on teaser site
We'd probably be more inclined to gripe about iriver stringing us along like this -- five gadgets, five days, hardly any hard facts -- if there wasn't so much sexy to the devices and photographs the DAP manufacturer is tossing up every 24 hours or so. Today's gadget is the iriver W10, a slim little touchscreen number we got to play with at CES, which seems to swipe some of the iPhone's interface ideas for touchscreen VoIP dialing, while still sticking with those WPS (WiFi positioning system) and PDA / e-book / PMP features we heard about before. We wish we had more to tell you, like price or a release date, but two things are certain: iriver seems bent on swiping every gadget dollar we've ever stashed, and is singlehandedly keeping the hand modelling industry in business.

Dear Steven, other manufacturers can steal the limelight from Apple or Microsoft or Sony for that matter once in a while. Enjoy it while it lasts, I certainly while

iRiver? Yawn..
Alan Strangis @ Jun 21st 2007 1:53PM
Now if only iRiver and Archos could merge.
iRiver's device and interface design chops with Archos codec/functionality would make for, bar none, the best portable media players.
Or they could just steal (uhm I mean learn) from each other. :)
James @ Jun 21st 2007 1:55PM
iRiver. The people whose early work bringing portable digital music players to the masses is credited to Apple.
Hell, the Cupertino boys even stole the "i" prefix. And everyone complains about companies who "copy" Apple - go figure.
GermanQR @ Jun 21st 2007 2:10PM
And isn't it a bit funny that gadgets actually released BEFORE iPhone "swipe some of the iPhone's ideas"?
- k E n - @ Jun 21st 2007 3:18PM
actually it wasn't stolen by anyone but in regards to Apple stealing iRiver's "i" prefix is so wrong in every way. Facts:-
- iRiver was formed in 1999
- Apple iMac was introduced in 1998
- Apple iBook was introduced in July 1999
Apple was using the "i" prefix even before iRiver was formed as a company. Lazy to post links so google it up yourself.
Magallanes @ Jun 22nd 2007 9:11AM
Also Apple patented iNTERNET prior iRiver, then Apple wins and the rest are just bootlegs... nah!.. Apple sponsored the "i" stuffs just taking advantage of the word "Internet", in the same way that Microsoft take advantage of ".net" for their ".NET" stuffs.
;-)

StreetStealth @ Jun 21st 2007 7:40PM
It looks like quite a nice package, with good typography and an uncluttered UI layout. But add an unlocked GSM system to that and things could get crazy interestng!
Murc @ Jun 21st 2007 9:11PM
this looks tight...but I wont buy it because its only 8gb....it would need to be 30gb to get my money.
KoreanBoy @ Jun 22nd 2007 10:35AM
Damn, it's map is just only for Americans...
Why? iriver is not Korean company??
Maybe, I should travel to USA just for checking it
Dave @ Jun 29th 2007 12:08PM
Perhaps, this is why we're waiting?
"Later in 2007, an update to Windows CE called Windows Embedded CE 6 R2 will add some Vista technologies, such as the updated media player and RDP client, to enable devices to connect to Vista PCs. It will also gain VoIP and more web services."
