Blog Tang A+ PMP won't write your diary for you
While the Blog Tang A+ seems to fall short in the blogging department, there's plenty to make up for that. Like a 4.3-inch LCD, 30fps "high-def" video and up to 160GB of storage. Codec support is plentiful, including fan-faves like OGG in addition to the usual video and audio suspects, and there's line-in recording as well as TV out. The 40GB version starts the bidding at 1,299 yuan ($173 US), with prices up to 2,199 yuan ($293) for 160GB.

Apple are you looking, this is what your iTouch should be like not the media crippled bouncing beach ball heap of crap it is now.
Jeff @ Sep 29th 2007 9:19PM
no touch screen on this though
Bistro88 @ Sep 30th 2007 2:01PM
Well this site has it and it states it can record video, so its more like a mobile DVR. I can see what your saying about the iTouch, limiting the formats just ruins it:

Alex @ Sep 29th 2007 8:41PM
Wow, It's about time for a new item to come up on Engadget, I've been waiting all day for something... Well that looks amazing and so cheap!!! when will it be available state side?
Xavier Gill @ Sep 29th 2007 8:52PM
Two weeks after never
strider_mt2k @ Sep 29th 2007 8:50PM
I don't have a need for this, but it doesn't stop me from wanting one.
Very cool.
bugmat @ Sep 29th 2007 8:55PM
Looks very nice- if only the archos line could look like this and have their functionality!
darkstar @ Sep 29th 2007 8:59PM

This phone has apparently been rebranded many times. According to one of our readers it's available in Europe.
It's not that huge

Didn't mean phone. PMP!
Neeko @ Sep 29th 2007 10:21PM

the cowon d2 is a nice, small, portable touch-screen player with AWESOME audio/video. This is my primary player... particularly because I dont want to be locked into the iTunes ecosystem
Interesting how almost every post becomes apple-related :D
Natedog @ Sep 30th 2007 2:10AM
I second his suggestion, go for the D2 if the capacity and screen size suit your needs. It is the absolute best in flash-based devices, and is expandable via SD(HC) (none of that mini/micro/$$$ crap) if 4GB doesn't suit your needs.
CaptSaltyJack @ Sep 29th 2007 10:49PM
Cool device. Horrible name. Blog Tang????
Bob @ Sep 29th 2007 11:16PM
I was reading through it and was pretty interested until I hit this bit:
"Built-in 3000mAh lithium battery with a nominal life time for the three-hour video or audio broadcast seven hours."
That's really lame. My 3 year old Dell DJ has a monochrome screen and mp3 playback only and even it gets 8 hours of battery life.
I'm hoping that the translation is wrong or the stats on the battery are wrong.
Richard @ Sep 29th 2007 11:23PM
Playing an MP3 uses very little power were decoding a AVI+AUDIO file needs way more cpu grunt.
stunta @ Sep 29th 2007 11:30PM
Anyone know when this will be available in the US and where I can buy it from?
Ryhan @ Sep 30th 2007 1:51AM
take that apple!
Now, to get rid of your drm...aha drmstripper :D
Montusama @ Sep 30th 2007 2:17AM
Dont' call us a PMP company
We're HQ Media playback company?
thats lame isn't it?
stateside release : never....?
Looks nice....I want it
? @ Sep 30th 2007 4:07AM
good as spec it is, the battery is only 2 hours for video and 6 hours for audio, also A+ model doesn't allow TV recording, and user interface is utterly boring, crashed also, the status light on the left hand side is very annoying, i got one of this by mistake when I asked for the A model, which recordes video, it only support AVi with limited codecs and very limited amount of Vob files, stay away, get a Archos 605.
? @ Sep 30th 2007 4:11AM
By the way, the very same model but with 40 gb HDD came out back in the mid of 2006, I see that Engadget is reporting on time.
? @ Sep 30th 2007 4:19AM
High Def in this case mean that the PMP can decord video up to 640x480, though actualling only allows the end user to see up to 480x272 due to screens limited native resolution.

3000mAh lithium battery is small considering it has to power HDD and the 4.3 inch screen.
kojo87 @ Sep 30th 2007 12:38PM
hot damn! a 160GB PMP with in-line recording and a 4.3inch screen? im so in! now there is like $1000 worth of electronics that i want...sigh
PenaltyKillah @ Oct 1st 2007 7:04PM
Passing through all the critical negativity aside, this player is kinda cool. Cheap, spacey, and nice controls, I won't rely much on the performance.
